About

Some recipes aren’t written down. They’re passed hand to hand.

The Dolomites, Italy — UNESCO World Heritage Site

In a small mountain village nestled among the Dolomites — the ancient peaks that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site — there lives a woman named Fiorenza.

Everyone calls her Fiore.

At 80 years old, Fiore has spent a lifetime in the kitchen. Not a restaurant kitchen. Not a cooking school. Her kitchen — with its worn wooden table, the smell of slow-simmered ragù, and eight grandchildren always underfoot, watching, tasting, learning.

The recipes she cooks were never written in any book. They traveled from her grandmother’s hands to her mother’s, and then to hers. Measured in pinches and handfuls. Adjusted by instinct. Perfected over decades.

Nonna Recipes exists because these recipes deserve to live on.

Not just within our family — but in kitchens around the world. Because real Italian food isn’t complicated. It doesn’t need fancy ingredients or professional equipment. It needs what Fiore has always had: good produce, patience, and love for the people sitting at your table.

Every recipe on this blog comes from her tradition. From the valleys and villages of the Dolomites. From Sunday lunches that lasted three hours. From Christmas Eve dinners where the whole family crowded into one kitchen, elbow to elbow, laughing and arguing about whose pasta was better.

From the Dolomites to your kitchen

The mountains where Fiore lives are breathtaking. Dramatic limestone peaks, quiet valleys, villages where time moves differently. Where people still grow their own vegetables, make their own preserves, and sit down together for every meal.

That world shaped everything she cooks. And now it can shape what you cook too.
